Why had NORTH KOREA the right to attack South Korea during the Cold War?

i need 5 arguments why North korea had the right to attack South Korea in 1950.. its for a debate at school.. and i cant say it was naked agression because im supposed to defend the point of view of North korea. An argument that my teacher said would be valid is that for the communists, it was a war of liberation from the imperialist and capitalist domination.. although the argument isnt 100% true its still a valid point.. i need more arguments like this one..
Answer: You got a raw deal kid. You are on the wrong end of the argument. That said, lets try this: Both the North and the South wanted to reunite the country and “liberate” the other side. There had been skirmishing between the two armies along the 38th parallel for a couple of years, so the North might have argued it feared an attack by the South. Syngman Rhee, the president of South Korea was more of a dictator then an elected offical who suppressed dissent (especially communists) in the South. The North was industrial and the South was agricultural. The North needed the food grown in the South to survive. The UN had no right to demand nationwide elections to reunite the country, it was an internal affair. Okay, every single one of these arguments is a really big stretch. The North just didn’t have any good arguments to justify its invasion. Might makes right is really what motivated them. I don’t envy you your task of arguing your case. Anyway, good luck....

What countries would help USA if NORTH KOREA launches one of their missiles at us?

I heard that North korea is planning to launch a missile at Hawaii, And if North korea hits Hawaii we would go to War with them. And if we go to War with North korea will we also be going to War with China since China is North koreas ally? And if that ever happens, Will Japan and South Korea help us fight the war? What other countries will help us if we ever do end up with a War with North korea and China? Is China even allys with North korea? Sorry for the question if I made any mistakes. Im just trying to get some information.
Answer: I read about this missile, and it seems to me North korea is just making more threats and demands in order to start a war. That way, it puts NK's opposing forces across as the bad guys. Until then, no missiles will be fired on either side. I've done a lot of research into whether China would back North korea, and I can safely conclude that it wouldn't. For one thing, China has North korea on a pretty tight leash - it supplies its oil at below-market prices, and it has a very big influence on the countries decisions. China does not want to go to war with the U.S.A either, because their exports to the US practically keep the country running. There's no way China could finance a war without U.S money from exports. Plus the fact that China condemns North korea's nuclear tests, saying that they are a threat and China will always play a "constructive role", meaning that no wars will be started. I think Japan is becoming a lot like the western world in its policies and way of running the country. Japan isn't exactly very friendly with North korea right now due to multiple missile tests into the Japanese sea. Plus the fact that North korea has refused to pay certain things to Japan, which it still owes, and Japan spends US$50 billion for military expenditure, whereas NK only spends US$5.5 billion. South Korea will not help because it desperately wishes for peace between the two nations, but if North korea becomes even more tyrannous and begins an invasion the South will fight back. Unfortunately I think the USA would be alone in this war. The UN would certainly get involved, as would NATO, but they would merely get politically involved, not go over there and sort them out physically. China would demand peace and negotiation on both sides, and Britain will not get involved in any sense apart from politically, it's such a far away war to begin with, and due to it's current economic climate. The War on Terror is really thinning troops out too, nevermind sending them to North korea - Iraq and Afghanistan are still being dealt with. China is North korea's ally, but as I explained it's like a father-son relationship. NK depends upon China to tell it what to do in many ways, and China has the power to stop it doing certain things if it really wants to.

NORTH KOREA?

writing a paper on current events in North korea. I need some general info on the nuclear issuess in North korea. If anyone can give me a run down on whats really going on. Also if anyone knows why the artical in the BBC News on New tactics over North korea by Charles Scanlon is Bias?
Answer: Everything you read is biased. You need to go to at least 5-10 sources to get a good picture. Despite its isolation, North korea became the centre of international crisis in 2002, announcing that it had become the world’s ninth nuclear power and promptly withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. As North korea had been named in George W. Bush’s ‘axis of evil’ speech earlier in the year, the environment for negotiation was unpromising. Through not insignificant mediation by China, several rounds of talks involving 6 key countries took place during 2005. The broad shape of a possible agreement envisaged North korea’s abandonment of its nuclear weaponry programme in return for non-aggression guarantees and assistance with energy and technology. The talks have illustrated the difficulty of conducting negotiations with North korea whose habit of making provocative gestures and indulging in brinkmanship ensured that the situation remained at stalemate. US sanctions on a Macau-based bank suspected of illegal transactions proved the last straw for prospects of North korean cooperation. The atomic weapons test now threatens to destabilize the situation with widespread international condemnation leading to UN Security Council approval of sanctions. These include a ban on all trade in luxury goods and transfers of money or goods that might be used in nuclear, biological or chemical weapons programmes. US calls for firmer action have been stalled , particularly by North korea’s neighbours, China and South Korea. In possibly the greatest diplomatic breakthrough since the test, China persuaded North korea to contemplate a return to the six-party nuclear disarmament talks. However, demands by North korea for an end to sanctions and by the US for abandonment of the nuclear programme as prerequisites for returning to the discussion table render the timetable unlikely. This nuclear crisis has further hampered recent efforts by South Korea to soften relations with the North. Since the end of the Korean War, numerous clashes have marked the relationship, even subsequent to the signing of a joint communiqué in 1972 which envisaged peaceful reunification of the peninsula. North and South Korean leaders came together in an unprecedented meeting in 2000, resulting in a joint statement reiterating the goal of eventual reunification. It was understood that a unified Korean team would enter the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, however, this has been thrown into doubt following North korea’s nuclear test.

What do you bet South Korea does their drills tomorrow, and NORTH KOREA does nothing about it?

South Korea says they will begin their military exercises tomorrow (Monday, December 20) North korea has said that if this happens, they will respond with military force. Assuming the South actually does do what they are planning, do you think the North will do anything about it? I doubt they will. Theyre not that stupid. If they start a war, it would be long and bloody, but it would spell the end for them and they know this. What do you think?
Answer: Agree. Plus, NK doesn't have the economy or the resources to support a war.

in what specific ways is n.korea like the soviet union in the 1950s or germany in the 1930s what are the differences and similarites Ive been really interested in North korea for a couple of weeks and my professor and I were dicussing it and she asked me these questions, I wasnt sure how to answer her.
Answer: well, in specific's kim il sung was a communist like joseph stalin who helped in september 1948 to establish the korean democratic people's republic, in the north, and the return of the inmum gun, or the peoples army. the capital is at pyongyang. kim il sung ruled with a vicious iron fist, and drove his country to produce whatever was needed to invade and reunite korea. having reaced a fragile soviet acceptance to invade the south, stalin shipped wht arms he could to him, along with soviet advisers, and sopviet airmen to fly and train the north in the mig-17. as far a germany goes, thats another thing, on one hand you have the oriental and on the other the aryian. where kim il sung wanted to reunite korea, a small country, hitler wanted russia(for german expansion) and whatever else fell his way. korea is a very interesting read and study, and none more so then the time line of july 1950-july 1953. i hope this helps some.

Why is communist NORTH KOREA so friendly to the prior Democratic presidents?

North korea loves holding Americans hostage until a Democratic president comes to save them. It seems that it has become fairly routine. Perhaps they love to strike up a chat about evil capitalism or maybe about North koreas national medical service. Im sure the Democrats would love to have a national medical service like North korea. Why dont they like Obama? He has the same principles.
Answer: Communisms and Democrats are on the same side of the political spectrum. Terrorists are on the same side as democrats, Jimmy Carter unveiled modern day terrorism by allowing the deposition of the Shaw of Iran, which resulted in the famous Ayatollah Khomeini taking charge, and the birth of the Taliban. Bill Clinton had a terrorist leader (Arafat) in the White House over night in the Lincoln Bedroom. It was the terrorist left that was always forcing a troop withdrawal date on Bush. See democrats try to make friends and appease terrorists and communists leaders, which only shows weakness in the eyes of these terrorists. Republicans try to defeat the enemy. Peace is achieved by eliminating the threat. .

The hotel has 3000 rooms, who will stay there if there are barely any tourists? Regular North koreans cant access revolving restaurants or nightclubs, and foreigners arent even allowed into North korea. Plus the people live in poverty. Why are they still building a hotel, why dont they just invent some other national symbol? Thanks for the answers! Why did they even start?
Answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryugyong_Hotel Seems they were counting on Russian and Chinese tourists but the fall of communist Russia kinda put a kybosh on the deal.China wasn't interested.

How will the current NORTH KOREA situation affect us Americans?

Since North korea decided to have the bright idea of striking South Korea yesterday, does that mean we are going to go to war, joining South Korea against North korea? Can we handle another war? Who can say that they saw this coming? What does it mean for the future of the USA? Should we be scared or worried? Lots of questions and no answers yet. Please leave any comments you have about the topic.
Answer: the US is obligated by treaty and alliance to defend South Korea from a North korean invasion. The shelling although dreadful was more show of force by the North motivated perhaps by desperation over the internal situation in the North. The North is an economic basket case and is undergoing a regime change. When the regime in the North feels weak it lashes out to scare the south and test the resolve of the US. There will be some sabre rattling and harsh words and maybe a few displays of the South/US overwhelming firepower but war is unlikely. No one really wants to take over North korea while the place basically collapses.
