Is GUS MALZAHN the best Offensive Coordinator in football?

lot of debate on this all over the place considering how he took over an anemic Auburn Offense and has already produced more points in 4 games than Auburn managed in 12 games last year.. and hes doing it with the same players (only added McCalebb) ok Earle.. how about this.. what number would Auburn have to hang on Tennessee tomorow in Knoxville to make you a believer? 24pts? (1 more than Florida in Gainsville) 30? 40? 35? remember the OMG great Gators and Tim "Superman" Tebow only managed 23.. just a note.. ok.. how about this.. not taking in just Auburn.. hes been an NCAA Div 1 coordinator for 5 years now.. hes never finished outside the top 10 in total offense or scoring offense.. (Even at Tulsa) and in his bowl game last year they racked up almost 700 yards if you havent heard it.. you arent paying attention.. lol.. team goes from 107th nationally to 3rd in 6 months time.. gets talk
Answer: hell yea. he turned a boring 3-and-out every time offense to a 80-yard-drive almost every time offense lol. auburn has a great offense this year. and just imagine if auburn played outside the SEC, we would go undefeated and average 800 yds of offense per game. SEC is alot different that that wac, mac, big 10, pac-10, big 12, big east, acc, c-usa, and any of those other conferences that dont know how to play defense. and todd has been a stud at QB this year, and me and my dad could tell that kodi burns sucked after his first throw, kodi burns cant even throw an accurate screen pass. he's pidiful, he's a pretty good wildcat QB though, but its sad when your runningbacks and recievers can throw better than someone whose supposed to be QB. mario fannin im sure can throw better than burns, who last year had 2 TDs and 8 picks, chris todd is 4 games in the season and has 11 TDs and only 1 pick. so, yea, malzahn is genius. GUS MALZAHN trick play?

Ok im an Auburn and im pretty sure if youre a football fan, you may know the best offensive mind in college football in Auburns offensive coordinator Gus malzahn. He turned around Auburns offense from 110th national to 17th nationally in ppg, rushing, and passing. But one thing people is starting to notice about his offense is that its not only a gimmicky spread offense that run i formation power plays from the shotgun but the trick plays that he uses. He uses a reverse every game. In 09 he did the fumblerooskie against Tennessee and they almost upset Bama in the 09 Iron Bowl with trick play after trick play. He also re-invented the wildcat, and made it back famous when was at Arkansas and lined McFaddon up for the wildcat qb. Well this trick play vs Alabama is so dirty and funny at the same time. I love watching him coach, you never know what to expect. On this play they call a timeout, when Alabama gets ready to go on their side of the line of scrimmage a player go gets the ball quick and pitch it to the sideline and follow everybody as lead blockers. Lol. Did Auburn hire the right Offensive Coordinator?

Gus malzahn.. at Tulsa his team averaged 565 yds a game and 47 pts (both #2 in the NCAA behind Oklahoma of course) and he led the NCAA last year.. think he can get it done where Franklin failed?
Answer: I think he can. Not to hate on Tulsa, but they have performed fairly well with a bunch of nobody talent. I know they got their butt handed to them by Arkansas and then Houston. Oklahoma was not running the no huddle till after they played Tulsa last year. Tulsa was very effective in keeping Oklahoma off balance by running to the line and hiking the ball, which is different than the way OU runs it now. OU runs up to the line of scrimmage and changes the play 2 or 3 times. Gus malzahn he can get it done.

Best Offensive Coordinator in the FBS?

There are many good coordinators in the FBS, but I would like to hear what everyone has to say on the matter. I would list some of the best as: Greg Davis- Texas Mark Helfrich- Oregon Gus malzahn- Auburn
Answer: Aren't many true offensive coordinators in college football anymore as more and more head coaches call the shots, so most on my list will be HC's. 1. Norm Chow- I do believe he is the last man standing. Made BYU an offensive juggernaut and helped USC offense look like a pro team. Will do the same for UCLA 1. June Jones- Passing wizard turned Hawaii into a nationally recognized program and in his second year will take SMU to its first bowl game since it received the Death Penalty from NCAA. 3. Mike Leach- Not a fan of the offense, seems way to horizontal and subject to route jumping, but the guy dials it up every year no matter who's at qb/wr. 4. Kevin Sumlin HC/Dana Holgorsen OC University of Houston- This combo has lit up FBS the last two years and have folks thinking this is early 90's in Houston. I have seen these guys put up 700 yards of offense in a game and walked away thinking damn... the players left a lot of big plays out on the field. 5.Chris Petersen HC Boise St.- Came to Boise under Dan "why did I leave what I built" Hawkins and has continued to put up points year after year with marginal talent. Great coaching is not only game calling but also player development and these guys have done it extremely well. * Best Offensive coaching conference Pac-10 by far leads this and in my opinion have the best overall coaching from top to bottom. *Worst Offensive coaching conference- SEC: I see high schools in my state with more complex game plans. *Notes on others: Greg Davis- Dont be fooled by Colt's play and overall talent level. UT has been horrible at player development during the last 8 years & I don't trust staffs that can recruit pro- talent and four years later the guys do nothing at the next level. This is TX. and UT players should be dominant in the NFL as players from Miami, Fla., FSU, Oklahoma & U.S.C. are. Helfrich- Oregon was out coached against Boise St. and even though they went on a great run it still leaves a bad after taste.

Is this a good hire for AU, and will the Tigers finally get back into the SEC West race and compete with Alabama and Ole Miss?? By the way, We hired him to be the OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR. Not the head coach.
Answer: Yeah I think so because he did a great job with Tulsa even though Malzahn struggled with Arkansas but that was because he didn't have a good quarterback. I think it is going to take at least one season to get back into the SEC west race because they need at least one good recuiting class to compete with Alabama, LSU and now the New superpower in the SEC west Ole Miss. I think next year they are looking at a 5th place finish because everyone will be better but Mississippi State.

Is it me, and I might sound crazy, or does Auburns schedule have them set up to go 12-0?

Im not being biased, Im just thinking... We open with LTU, Mississippi State, and Ball State at home all seeming like automatic wins. West Virginia has to come to the Plains for the game this year. Say they win that at Night on National TV. They beat Ball State afterwards, theyre 4-0. Auburn has a winning record all-time in Neyland Stadium and has won 2 straight at Tennessee, 4 overall. If they beat Tennessee on the road, theyre 5-0. Then they go to Arkansas. Auburn has a 4-game winning streak at Arkansas and theyre looking for revenge over a team they shouldnt have lost to last year. 6-0. Then we host Kentucky. 7-0. So were 7-0 and clinching a bowl. We have a great staff. Maybe the best in college football. Then we go to LSU. If we were good enough to win those 7 games, and LSU seems like theyre not what they used to be, and Death Valley has seemed to have lost its magic. So if Auburn beats LSU, were 8-0. Then we host Ole Miss. If theyre overrated and the games at Auburn, the Tigers can win. 9-0. We play Furman. 10-0. Then we go to rival UGA and host Alabama. Im just saying, this schedule fits with our talent, our great coaches, and the fact were under-the-radar. Plus, Bama came out of nowhere last year and did the same, so dont use "They sucked last year" as a reason we wont be able to go 12-0. Im not saying were going 12-0, I highly doubt well win 9 games, but think about the schedule. We only have 4 road games (Tennessee, Arkansas, LSU, UGA) and 2 of our toughest opponents come to Auburn. With a good schedule, do you think Auburn has any shot to go 12-0 if they surprise some people? They will surprise some people, but 12-0 isnt going to happen. But can it? I want your opinion on my theory. Let me point out again that Saban had a winning percentage of 30% at Miami and Bama stunk in 2007 and went unbeaten in 2008. what shot does Gene Chizik (with Gus malzahn, Ted Roof and Tracy Rocker) have of erasing the 5-19 from everyones minds and going 12-0? heres a list of preliminary candidates i think have strong causes to be the new Florida head coach. 1. Dan Mullen- He just took over at Mississippi State only a year ago, but the chance to be the head man in Gainesville (along with a huge raise) may be too much to pass up. 2. Charlie Strong- Like Mullen, he has recently took over a BCS program, but his roots in the program and his recruiting abilities (plus a huge pay increase) may make him change his mind. 3. Kevin Wilson- Oklahoma offensive coordinator has a mind for the offense few can match, and the personnel at his disposal in Gainesville could send shivers down the spines of the entire country. 4. Kirby Smart- His Bama defense did a number on the Gators in the SEC Title Game, so the Gators might follow a new motto....If you cant beat em, hire em. 5. Mike Shanahan- Was considered for the job before Zook took over and is a former coach at the school. Hes already won the super bowl, why not give college another shot? 6. Will Muschamp- Texas coach-in-waiting may not want to wait to take over a premier program, he might just want to return to his home state and Head up the Gators. 7. Steve Spurrier- As unlikely as it might sound, The Ol Ball Coach might just love to return to Gainesville. 8. Jon Gruden- Hes got a great following in the state, hes young, and hes got a football mind like Meyers. He may just be the perfect fit for a program needing an emotional boost. 9. Herm Edwards- Hes had success....and failure in the NFL, but with his defensive mind and his motivational abilities, he may just find his true calling in the college ranks. 10. Marty or Brian Schottenheimer- Either one of these candidates has a strong football background(with Marty being the longtime NFL coach) but Brian is a former UF QB and is considered one of the top offensive minds in all of football. 11. Russ Grimm- One of the builders of the Steelers recent success, this hall of famer would bring instant improvement on both sides of the lines, something the gators definitely need. 12. Jeff Jagodzinski- Former BC head coach knows how to recruit, build, and win. With his energy and offensive mind, he would be a great fit in Gainesville. 13. Gus malzahn- Auburns offensive genius love the wildcat, very similar to the spread option. Its only a matter of time before he becomes a head coach somewhere. 14. Steve Addazio- Floridas offensive coordinator in 09 didnt do a very good job, but he is the 2nd in command right now. 15. Billy Gonzales- If Florida wants to promote an assistant, it should be their WRs coach, who is a younger version of Meyer and has a great offensive mind, plus hes an ace recruiter. Well there is a short (kinda) list of candidates for the UF job. Let me know what you think and if you think of any more, tell me who and why you think they would be good fits for the gators.
Answer: I like your list but I think Florida wants a coach with head coaching experience. The Last time they chose a coach with head coaching experience was Ron Zook and he got fired. If that is the case then you can eliminate a lot of those name on your list. A name you didn't bring up is Skip Holtz from East Carolina University. A lot of schools have been targeting him for years but he has been waiting for the right job to open up. I think Florida may look at him. Chris Peterson is another name that you didn't bring up because he has done a great job at Boise State. Overall I like you list though.
